Day 2 Music Speaks To My Heart 11-18-15

I would rather listen to music than watch TV. The melodies and messages feed my heart and soul. Watching TV can be distracting but sometimes I actually feel my brain activity flatlining, which is alarming.

I only sing when I’m alone in the car. And then I sing with all my might. Loud. Passionately. Feeling the music and the lyrics. When I hear a song that bids me listen, I do.  I put that track on a loop and listen to it over and over until I can hear it in my mind. Every word and note and inflection of the voice. I want to hear it in my mind.

When I first heard Lift Your Head Weary Sinner by Crowder my heart recognized it as a song I want to hear in my head. So I put the song on a loop and play it over and over again. (Just so you know, no one pays me to review or promote their music or anything else. These are strictly my own opinions.)

The music speaks of trudging through life and the lyrics are powerful. They acknowledge the mistakes of a broken prodigal child and offer a way back. Isn’t that what we all want: a way back. Out of a mess we have made. Removing the chains we put on ourselves. Yes, the gates of glory are open wide if we will just make up our mind and say yes to God.

I chose a YouTube version of the song that shows the lyrics. The message and music make this song a keeper for me.  I hope you listen and enjoy.

Terrific blog post! I especially like and agree with your statement: “The melodies and messages feed my heart and soul.” They are all-day-long nourishment for me too. Thanks for the encouragement, Dorothy!
